History

The Windrifter Resort has served visitors and vacationers in Wolfeboro for generations. As the Hotel Prescott and the General Wolfe Inn, it was well known for its hospitality and service; a tradition which carries on today.

“Many of our members are second generation; having first vacationed at the Windrifter with their parents.”

In the 1970's, a small group purchased the Inn with the idea of creating an affordable lakeside vacation destination for families. With the construction of the Villas and indoor pool, that idea grew into what is the Windrifter Resort of today. The purchase of the Pirate's Cove, a small marina on Lake Street, completed the picture by providing private lake access and waterfront lodging.

Having achieved their dream of creating a one-of-a-kind affordable family resort with private access to Lake Winnipesaukee, the properties were deeded over to the Windrifter Resort Association as a not-for-profit organization to maintain and manage the properties for the use and enjoyment of the association members. When you buy a Windrifter timeshare, you become a Windrifter Resort Association member with all the benefits including full use of the facilities.

Established as one of America’s first timeshares, the Windrifter Resort has blossomed into 42 studio and one-bedroom guest rooms, a private indoor pool, private fitness and recreational areas, and private access to swimming and boating on the Northeast's most popular lake and in one of the Lakes Region's most exclusive communities.

Many of our members are second generation; having first vacationed at the Windrifter with their parents, they now vacation here with their spouses and children. They recognize the value of the friendships and memories that grow over a lifetime.
